Economic growth rates have averaged 5% GDP growth since the early 1990s, and Tunisia’s diverse economy, ranging from agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and petroleum products, to tourism have made Tunisia the 40th most competitive economy in the world and the most competitive one in Africa in 2009 by the World Economic Forum.  Tunisia’s rich cultural history and remnants of ancient sites and ruins attract millions of tourists each year.
